Mr. Canh Ba Do has been appointed as General Manager to lead the 3.2 GW Power Plant subsidiary.
The Woodlands, Texas, July 23, 2021 – Delta Offshore Energy is the owner of a flagship project, the 3.2 GW power plant in Bac Lieu located in the southern region of Vietnam. Delta’s progress in the development of clean energy solutions in the country of Vietnam has established a subsidiary company the Bac Lieu LNG Power Company Limited.
At the beginning of June 2021, Mr. Canh Ba Do was appointed as General Manager of the subsidiary. His appointment demonstrates strength in areas of asset management, planning, and organization as well as relationship building in multicultural working environments. He is currently visiting Houston, Texas until the end of August where he will be introduced to the members of the USA consortium and government officials before returning to Vietnam.
“I am very honored to assume this position with Delta as I see the project as a catalyst for bringing positive change to my beloved Vietnam and helping improve the quality of life of my countrymen,” said Mr. Canh Ba Do.
The newly appointed General Manager will oversee all aspects of the operations, engineering, asset management, and participate in the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiation and government relations.
Mr. Canh Ba Do has more than 40 years of experience in the Energy Sector global market which includes the USA, and the final 20 years based in the country of Vietnam.
His strong leadership skills have earned him recognition for his professionalism, transparency, determination, dedication, and commitment to excellence in the development of clean energy projects. Mr. Canh has served in Senior Executive positions in the energy sector, highlighting his work as Head of Country in Vietnam for the oil major British Petroleum (BP) and General Director of Phu My 3 Power Company under a build, own, transfer contract.
“The establishment of Bac Lieu LNG Power Company Limited has once again affirmed the strong determination and commitment of Bac Lieu People’s Committee and local authority, DOE, and consortium partners to ensure the Project progress as committed to the Vietnam Government, and to greatly support the goal of the Government in economic development. I highly appreciate the efforts of DOE and partners to overcome this extremely difficult time of COVID-19 and continue to progress the Project in compliance with the law as committed in the Investment Registration Certificate,” said Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of Bac Lieu People’s Committee.
“Given the active involvement and timely support of the Central Government, the Prime Minister, and related Central agencies, I believe that the project will break ground later this year, in order to put the 1st phase into commercial operation in mid-2024 as stipulated in Vietnam’s National Power Development Plan 7 revised
(“PDP7R”), meeting the expectation and growth ambition of Bac Lieu’s local authority and people”, said Chairman Pham Van Thieu.
